Analysis: At 9:40 pm, our selection is on the Seattle Mariners over the Kansas City Royals. After starting a full season worth of games since he came into the Majors in 2021 (including a league-high 33 in 2024), Mariners ace Logan Gilbert finally saw some time on the IL this season. The 28-year-old RH missed almost two months due to a strained elbow flexor and is now recovered and back in the Seattle rotation. He's had three starts since coming off the IL and although he hasn't been the dominant pitcher we've gotten used to, Gilbert is getting stronger with each start and should be able to take a step forward tonight in his 10th trip to the mound. It certainly doesn't hurt his chances that the Royals have had MAJOR issues putting runs across the plate in 2025. In fact, KC's 282 runs scored has it ranked 30th out of 30 in the Majors so far this season -- a problem that doesn't seem to be getting any better lately. Gilbert has a 2.35 ERA in six starts here at home this season vs. 6.00 in three starts on the road. Take the Mariners. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
