MLB - Run Line - Thu, Jul 03

10* CFL TOTAL OF THE MONTH!

My free play is on Houston -1.5 runs. Colorado isn't lighting things up on offense this year, not even at Coors Field. They've managed to score just 10 runs in their last four home games, for example. The Rockies are 27th and 25th in runs scored per game and OPS. The Astros are on a 26-9 winning run and after a 4-game winning streak, Colorado is right back in the hole, losing 10 of their last 12 games and they're 1-8 against the run line in their last nine losses. I'm on Houston -1.5 runs. Thanks and best of luck! Jack Banks.

ROGERS FREE MLB WINNER

At 7:07pm ET, my complimentary selection is on the NY Yankees. Though he's had some previous success against the Yankees, Bassitt really struggled in his last start. The Red Sox scored 8 runs against him in just 2 innings. While recording just six outs, Bassitt allowed 12 runners (8 hits, 4 walks) to reach base. Schmidt also lost his last start but he was much better than Bassitt. He went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs. That was on the heels off consecutive shutouts, where he allowed 0 runs in 7 innings and 0 runs in 7.2 innings. In 5 June starts, he had a 1.95 ERA and 0.77 WHIP. Schmidt was better than Bassitt when they opposed each other in the spring, the Yankees winning 5-1. The Yankees should close out the series with a victory. Play on NY.

Big Al's FREE MLB Winner!

At 10:10 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Seattle Mariners over the Kansas City Royals. There is no better proof in the Majors that if a starter can keep his walks down, then he can be successful overall than the Mariners' Bryan Woo. In his breakout 2024 campaign, the 24-year-old RH walked an average of 1.0 hitters per nine innings -- one of the lowest walk rates in the League. And not surprisingly, Woo finished the season with a 9-3 record, 2.89 ERA, and 0.90 WHIP. He's doing essentially the same thing this season, although the walk rate has risen slightly to 1.5. This year Woo is 7-4 with a 2.93 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 16 starts covering 101 1/3 innings. He's well on his way to being chosen for his first AL All Star squad and he'll get another chance to prove himself tonight against a team that's had major problems scoring runs this season. Woo beat the Royals in his only other career start against them last May, throwing 5 1/3 innings while allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Take the Mariners. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
